(KIN1) aka Zike Cemetery

According to WPA records the cemetery is located
East side of Bennett Lane near West section line.
The township has yet to locate this cemetery.
Based on new information obtained in 2010 we will
attempt to locate this year (2011). The WPA did not
record any number of field stones or names off
tombstones from this cemetery.
March 22th, 2011 > Update: Bases on the new
information, we have been able to add more to the
mystery. During our research we have been finding
a few errors in the information taken from WPA files.
The Kinser (KIN1) Cemetery we have been told
contains also Strain and Zike families. This
information ties in with the "lost" or forgotten "Zike"
Cemetery reportedly located in Harrodsburg.
Depending which family line you were in the name
would reflect that family. The township is in the
process of obtain permission to photograph and
GPS plot this cemetery.
March 27th, 2011 > Update: Verified though multiple
contacts an old cemetery which had been referred
to as "Zike Cemetery" is located in one of the
pastures on the old Kermit Curtis Farm. Stones
were "unreadable" in 1937-39 when the WPA was
recording cemetery locations and information.
Stones are still on the site, however deer & cattle
have knocked down the old fence and many of the
stones. We are in the process of scheduling a day
to meet with caretakers of the property to visit the

A second Kinser (KINS) Cemetery is located just
south of the Clear Creek Township line in Section
36. Located on the old Kinser farm (Now Deckard)
in Lawrence County. Please call George Deckard at
